In LA, if you ask people to participate in something, the first thing they want to know is who else is involved. No one wants to lend his name to something that isn’t cool enough.
Lucky for me, Zach Galifianakis makes anything cool – he doesn’t need to know who else is involved. And also in the lucky for me category, Zach is incredibly nice and unpretentious.
So when I decided to start this project, I went to Zach first. I emailed my pitch and within a few days I got a reply. I don’t think Zach has any idea how grateful and excited I was (and am). In spite of my 29 years I literally jumped up and down.
So here we go.

ZACH GALIFIANAKIS
When I was 30 I was living part time in Vancouver and part time in Los Angeles if I remember correctly. 30 is a great age. It is a time when I realized I was getting smarter but coupled with the embarrassment of how my 20s turned out to be. I was turning a corner at 30. I first started smoking pot at the age of 30 so I was kind of like a kid with a new layer in life. I rode my bike all the time and I listened to music constantly. I had open mics in my house in Santa Monica when I was thirty. My best friend at that time was a 94 year old man named Albert who I learned a lot from. I really started paying attention to age at 30. I liked listening to elderly people talk. I was performing a lot of stand up in churches, art galleries, coffee houses, taco shacks, dinner theaters and comedy clubs. That was my life. Performing live as much as I could and touring from time to time.
And what’s different now?
Annoyingly, everything.
